Aquatic Therapy is exercise and movement that is performed in water using the physical properties of the water to assist with patient healing and performance. The aquatic environment provides for multiple benefits through water's buoyancy, warmth, viscosity and hydrostatic pressure.

Buoyancy minimizes the effects of gravity; It aids in decreasing weight bearing forces thereby reducing stress placed on joints. Viscosity provides resistance without the need for weights. Warmth assists in relaxation, increasing blood flow and improving circulation. Hydrostatic pressure can decrease swelling and provides joint positional awareness.

Aquatic therapy has proven to be a successful treatment option for many patients suffering from a variety of diagnoses and conditions. These include but are not limited to: arthritis, fractures, tendonitis, joint replacements, severe back pain, spinal stenosis, herniated discs, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease and various balance disorders.
